Sierra Life Celebrations is a secular and primarily non-denominational celebrant/officiant service, where religion is only included at the families request but never directed.  Sierra Life Celebrations is owned and managed by Neil Oscarson, retired US Army Officer (retired in 2019), father of 3 adult kids, married over 27 years, and a certified life celebrant.  Neil also is a Community College instructor and owns a local Wedding Officiant business called Weddings by Neil (www.weddingsbyneil.com).  Over the years as a wedding officiant Neil has been asked many times to conduct Memorials and Celebrations of Life services.  After conducting the first few Neil recognized the process of preparing for a wedding is similar to the process of preparing and officiating a funeral/memorial/celebration of life, and even more-so Neil recognized the exceptional value these closure and healing services provide to our community. Starting an end of life officiant/celebrant service was a natural fit and a service our local community needed.  Neil did not want to combine services inside one business so created Sierra Life Celebrations as a stand-alone end of life memorial officiant service.  Neil has officiated well over 300 weddings and memorial services (combined), and while in the Army Neil performed over 200 military funeral honors ceremonies and is intimately familiar with the working relationship between the funeral home, the families, and as an officiant.  Now in retirement and to fill in the blanks in time between memorial services and weddings, Neil teaches at the local college, enjoys hiking, fishing, camping, travelling, and spending time with family.  We hope to hear from you and learn your loved ones story, and go on the path together to help you find the closure you seek.
